John E. Clark, MS, PharmD, FASHP

He is the Coordinator, Medication Safety and Quality, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida. He holds affiliate faculty appointments with the University of Florida, NOVA Southeastern University, and Florida A&M University (FAMU), College of Pharmacy.  He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from FAMU, M.S. degree from Wayne State University, B.S. degree from Texas Southern University and completed a residency in Hospital Pharmacy at Detroit General Hospital, Detroit, Michigan.      Dr. Clark is currently the President of the Association of Black Health-system Pharmacists (ABHP) Research and Education Foundation. He has served on committees of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), Commission on Therapeutics, Administrative Affairs Council, and Committee on Nominations of the American Society of Health-system Pharmacists (ASHP), and as the International Liaison to the Advisory Board of the International Symposium on Oncology Pharmacy Practice. Dr. Clark is past Chair of the Hospital and Institutional Section of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management. He is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Florida Society of Health-system Pharmacists (FSHP) Research and Education Foundation. He is also past President of the Florida Society of Health-system Pharmacists, South Florida Society of Health-system Pharmacists (SFSHP), and the American College of Clinical Pharmacology (ACCP), Miami Chapter. Honored for his leadership and involvement, he has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Society of Health-system Pharmacists (ASHP), as Pharmacist-of-the-Year by the SFSHP and the FAMU National Pharmacy Alumni. He has received numerous awards, including the FSHP Distinguished Service Award, the FAMU College of Pharmacy Alumni Achievement Award, Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy Outstanding Alumnus Award, the FSHP Upjohn Award for Clinical Pharmacy Research, the Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmacist Achievement Award, the Merck Pharmacist Achievement Award, the Jackson Memorial Foundation Winner’s Circle Award, and the Anna D. Thiel Award, the highest award presented by the SFSHP.
